Can I get into Columbia University?

Hey guys, do you think that I can get into Columbia University?

I AM APPLYING ED.

Here are my stats.

Unweighted GPA: 3.83 (I know that it is really bad)
Weighted GPA: 4.35

SAT Score Hopefully (I haven't taken it yet): Greater than 2300
PSAT: I have not taken it yet but I will hopefully achieve the National Merit award

APs: Biology, Chemistry, Music Theory, Physics, BC Calculus, English, French, Micro and Macro Economics, and Psychology.

Honors: All honors all throughout high school.

Extracurriculars:

Internship in Laboratory at Columbia University (2 Years for a total of 15 weeks)

Juilliard Pre-College Program for Piano (Less than 10% are accepted to the program.)

Founder/President of Piano Club: Students volunteer to play their musical instruments at
Nursing Homes once every two weeks. Create benefit concerts twice a year in which the money goes to a charity that supplies musical instruments to kids who cannot afford them.

NY All-State for Piano - Only 6 people get accepted out of the thousands that participate.

Music Schools Honors Program (4 Years)

School Newspaper (4 Years) - Editor in Chief Senior Year

Tennis Team (6 Years)

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

There’s no use chancing someone who hasn’t taken the SAT yet.

^ Well going under the assumption that I get above a 2300 (like have on the practice tests), what do you think?

If you haven’t taken it yet, you have no basis for assuming you’ll get above a 2300.

This forum is littered with kids who have high GPA’s and could not break an 1800. Take the test and then come back.

You can “project” anything. You are most likely a rising sophomore, so just do good in school, and come back at the end of junior year. There is nothing to chance here.

If you do achieve that score you will be a very competitive applicant and you should feel comfortable with your application but it is honestly impossible to determine nowadays. But I agree with general comment consensus unless you are an exceptional test taker its hard to break 2300 even with all the prep.

Although you are expecting a 2300 on your SAT, your extra curricular in piano is great, and your high school career is great, it is still very hard to get into Columbia (with an acceptance rate of 7%). You must be the best of the best. You may have a chance at Columbia, but make it your reach school; don’t actually make it your number one. Make sure to have a safety plan incase if Columbia doesn’t accept you.

Its hard to say without the SAT or ACT, someone please chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1683395-can-i-get-into-columbia-nyu-or-boston-university.html#latest

What you haven’t taken the SAT yet?? And you’re planning to go to Columbia…good luck with that…

And you haven’t taken the PSAT either? Are you a real incoming senior or a ■■■■■?
