Hi ! So I’m currently a senior in HS and I got accepted into UC Davis for a Construction management degree & I would like to eventually apply to attend med school . I picked this major because I felt that a biology major is too common and if med school didn’t work out I could rely on this major to have a decent job I would actually enjoy . Is it possible ? Or what would I have to do to meet requirements within a 4 year span ?
UC Davis decisions don’t come out until March? Also construction management isn’t a major there
From what I see on UC Davis website, one earns a certificate, not a degree, upon completion of the 12 month construction management program. This is more vocational in nature and would not be acceptable to med schools as a college degree. Med schools want a degree that is more academic in nature. Med schools do not require any major. Most choose to major in bio/chem, perhaps out of interest, but also because it allows one to earn a college degree (not a certificate) and complete premed reqs at same time, in effect, killing two birds with one shot. You’re right to think about having a Plan B if you change your mind, but this construction management certificate program is not a viable Plan B for a premed hopeful.
I would say no - and that was before reading jug’s post that this isn’t a bachelor’s degree. You need a bachelor’s degree in an academic subject.
The construction management certificate at UCD is not a degree program, it won’t qualify for med school application. However, Cal Poly SLO and others have Construction Management that offer a BS degree and will be qualify for med school.

You can search for the program in many CSUs, however, not every CSU offer a degree program.
I would not do this if you want a decent chance at medical school.
