Hello,
I'm from California and was wondering if some of you can give me information on how to get into medical school. Is B.S/B.A in Biology the only way to get into Med School or could you major in any field and be able to enter. I've had some discussions with others about this topic and aside from completing some prerequisites, majoring in Biology would help with getting a better score on your MCATs as the test consists of questions which deal mostly in the sciences. I want to become a doctor, but lost on the route to take. I like biology, but if I had the option to major in something else and still be able to get into a good med-school I would change majors.

At the moment, I am currently at a CC because I thought it would increase my chances of getting into a UC. I transferred from CSUCI to CC because I heard it would be easier to transfer to a UC since classes at CSUs are only accepted at other CSUs. I know when it comes to being a doctor, that employers do take into consideration the school you went to. So I wanted to enter a school with a more credible program. I was deciding on either USC or UCLA as my top to schools or maybe UCSB. However I was talking with my counselor at the CC and he told me that I would be there for 2 years because I would need to get my science classes up to at least 35 units and also complete the IGETC. However, one of my friends got into UCLA for Pre-Med and I believe he has only been at a CC for 2 yrs. I don't quite understand it. I guess what I want to know is, what I would have to do to get into USC, UCLA, or UCSB from a CC to go into the Medical Field?

If any further information is needed please don't hesitate to ask.Thank you!
