Can I get into Rutgers with a 3.6 gpa and an Sat score of 920/1600

I know my sat score is really bad, but I was wondering if I still have any chance of getting into Rutgers University. I want to either apply to the school of business or the school of Arts and Sciences. Please let me know what you guys think. My extracurriculars are chorus and community service hours. Thank you.

No.

Savage, but sadly, I agree. No. If you want to stand a chance you must improve your score. Study hard over the summer and retake it once the school year starts.

Try the ACT as well

I don’t believe that I have no chance though, my sister literally got a 50% on her SAT with a 3.6 gpa and she managed to get into Rutgers New Brunswick somehow. Is it possible?

I don’t know if that information pertains to the upcoming applicants because of the increased competition over the years.

Well, I guess you could. Quite unlikely I think. Improve your score.

Your GPA is good. I think it’s worth applying. Just make sure your essay is amazing and really represents you and your intellect well, and on the app there will be a section where you can explain any special circumstances regarding your academics and there you can explain why you didn’t do so well on your SATS and how you’ll work harder in the future, etc

Do you attend a low-performing school?
But overall, no.
Their “bottom 25%” threshold is about 1050-1100.
Have you done all the lessons on Khan Academy? Redo them all, working on it every day.
How many honors and AP classes do you have with that 3.6 GPA?
What’s a “50% on the SAT”?
And what happened to your sister is unlikely to happen to you - just because your neighbor won the lottery doesn’t mean you will. It’s become increasingly difficult to get into Rutgers and TCNJ.
You could apply to test-optional colleges if you have course rigor and an interesting story to tell. (Some test-optional colleges will ask for a class paper, others for extra essays, to replace your test scores in admissions. Some will simply look at your overall profile without test scores).
An example of a college with test-optional admissions, including to the Honors College, is Temple. Others are as diverse as Bowdoin, Ithaca, UScranton (<- beautiful campus)…
What’s your parents’ budget for college?

@Love101fashion Maybe. Always apply and just be confident. I have many friends who got into SAS with GPA of 3.2 and RBS-NB with GPA 3.3. I don’t know how that happens but there is always a chance.
SAS is not competitive due to the size of the school. I’m almost certain that you’ll have no problem here.
RBS-NB is very competitive. 3.7+ is guaranteed. 3.6 you may be going to the waiting list.
RBS-NWK- 3.4 is guaranteed.

You can choose 3 schools in your application. My recommendation is for you to select
RBS-NB as first choice.
SAS NB as second choice.
RBS-NWK as third choice. (if you get in here, you can try transferring schools later).

50% on SAT’s???

Raise that SAT score. You might get lucky and be saved by your GPA to get into SAS but it is hard to say. Good luck studying, you can do it!
