I’m going to be a junior in high school, and can finish the year off with a 3.8 or higher weighted GPA. I haven’t taken the ACT or SAT yet. This year I’m only taking AP English for an advanced class (The years before I had Honors English and Honors World History/AP Euro). I don’t know if SDSU looks at the weighted GPA or not, obviously my weighted is better than my unweighted. Do I have a good chance getting in the way I’m heading?
The CSU’s have a GPA calculator using a-g courses in 10-11th grade only with extra honors points for approved Honors/AP and IB classes. Your GPA looks good. What you need now is your SAT or ACT score. You can then calculate your CSU GPA and Eligiblity index. The EI is used to rank applicants for each major. The higher the better, so for SDSU to be a competitive applicant, you want an EI of 4100+ for SAT or 1000+ for ACT. Intended major will also be a factor. The more competitive the major, the higher EI is needed.
Here is the link for CSU GPA calculator: https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp
Here is the calculation for the EI:
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT composite score x10).
My younger son is currently a 2nd CS major at SDSU, so if you have any questions, do not hesitate to send me a PM.
Good Luck.
Ok thank you so much
A 3.8 and solid test scores will get you into SDSU with room to spare - as long as you complete the a-g course list.
