Chance me for SDSU please

My weighted GPA is 3.48, SAT is 1210 (taking it again this month) and ACT is 28. I’ve taken about 17 IB classes throughout high school so hopefully this gives me an edge ? I’m in state but not in service area. SDSU is my dream school but I’m not confident in getting in. Also, will applying undeclared hurt my chances of acceptance, or give me a greater chance? As of right now I do not know what I want to study. Thank you!

CSU’s do look at HS course rigor but they cap their GPA calculation at 8 semesters (4 yearlong IB/AP courses) so it does not help your GPA.

SDSU like most CSU’s admit by eligibility index and major.
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + EBRW) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT composite x10). CSU’s do superscore SAT and ACT.

So based on your posted stats, your EI for the SAT is 3994 SAT and 976 ACT. If you are local, you may have a chance with these EI’s, but as a non-local you want a target EI SAT of 4100 and ACT of 1050 for the best chances. Definitely apply, but make sure you have some solid Match and Safety schools.

EI thresholds by major do fluctuate from year to year dependent upon each in-coming Freshman class, so the more competitive the Freshman class, the higher the EI’s to get an acceptance.

SDSU is an impacted campus so all majors including Undeclared are impacted.

Apply widely so you have some choices come Spring.

Your test scores are good for SDSU, and IB classes will help some. If you have strong EC’s or some sort of passion outside of school you should have a pretty good shot at getting in.

Would strongly suggest not declaring a major until you know what you want to do, applying undeclared isn’t a big deal. No point in locking yourself into one area of study before you’re sure if that is the place you want to be.

@futbolista and @josephinen23: SDSU and most CSU’s (exception SLO) do not consider EC’s in their admission decisions. It is all based on #’s, mainly CSU GPA and test scores along with HS course rigor and local vs non-local.
