<p>Im currently a freshman in high school. Im intrested in attending Stanford or an Ivy league college. My problem is that Im unsure of how my freshman grades will affect my chances. The first semester I didnt do as well as I could've and Im currently in my second semester and so far I have straight A's. Here are my grades for the first semester: My GPA (un)3.4 w(4.08) I'm ranked 218 out of 803(I know I need to get that way up)

Biology Honors: B
Algebra:B
Orchestra:A
English:A
Eurythmics(colorguard):A
Next year I'm taking:
International Relations Honors
Spanish 4 Honors
Financial Operations Honors

I'm currently in colorguard(marching band) and I am aware that I need more ECs. Next year, Im gonna be in DECA, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Social Studies Honor Society. And yes, I am actually intrested in all of these. I'm also gonna start a club, volunteer in my community(library, museum, hospital). So my question is if I hurt my chances at one of these schools. Im also wondering if since Pre-Calc is the highest math I'll be able to take in high school if it will affect my chances either. If I can I'm going to try to take Calc online my senior year to increase my chances. I've also heard that it helps that im a minority(black) but I'm not relying on that at all because it may not be true and Im still gonna do my best.</p>
<p>In my opinion one should never rely on race to help them get into college. Look at their requirements and do the best u can. <p>Stanford is just one of many excellent options out there and no matter where you end up, the fact that you’ve identified your goals at such an early age should help. Challenge yourself with the most rigorous courses you can handle and get involved… in anything and everything that you are passionate about – You will be driven to work hard and succeed if you are passionate about a club, organization, idea, etc… Good luck in high school and have fun.</p>

<p>This site shows the stats of accepted and admitted students. Getting your GPA above 3.7 is pretty important, but the accept rate for a 3.7-3.99 GPA of 6% is only a little below the overall average of 7%. </p>
<p>As far as EC, passion is better than raw numbers. Look at what you are involved in and focus on those things that mean the most. Do it because you love it, and it won’t seem like work. This committment will be apparent in interviews and essays and possibly set you apart.</p>
<p>It’s paradoxical, but going out and living life without worrying about how every little thing affects you chances at an elite university is probably the best way to actually get into an elite university. Also, if it works out that you don’t get in, you’ll have a wealth of real world experience that will set you up for success.</p>

<p>I use Florida Virtual School. Flvs.net. Its free an they have most courses. You should sign up soon though because sometimes it can take a while for them to place you in a class.</p>
<p>I don’t know why it says that for you. It’s definitely free. Maybe you went to the wrong site. The site is <a href=“http://www.flvs.net%5B/url%5D”>www.flvs.net</a>. You decide the pace you wanna work at. If you want to take that long to complete the course then you can. But you can do an accelerated program which allows you to complete the course in 18 weeks or less if you work ahead. Yes, you get credit for it and it is an honors course.</p>
