At my school, the highest GPA you can get is a 6.67. That is pretty much impossible, though because it would mean that you took all APs all 4 years of high school, which is impossible. The valedictorian usually has around 5.7- 5.8. My GPA freshman year was 5.23, then I REALLY messed up sophomore year and got a 4.33. I’m a junior, and first semester I got a 5.6, and I’m planning on a 5.7 this semester. From my school, people with 5.3- 5.6 GPAs get accepted into the Ivy Leagues. I have a 5.05 right now, and I plan on bringing it up to about a 5.25 by the end of first semester of senior year. Do you think I can still get into an Ivy if my SAT score is higher than 2300? I don’t have a good reason for my 4.33 sophomore year. Do colleges take that into consideration? I did well on the most important year, but that doesn’t bring my GPA up to where it needs to be.
Students with perfect SAT scores and perfect GPAs have been rejected by Ivy League colleges before. It’s all a crapshoot.
please explain to me your schools grading system? What grade points to you get for an A,B,C,D,and F for AP, honors, and non honors? I’ve never heard of a grading system where it is possble to get over a 6.0 and (systems where over a 5.0 is possible is quite uncommon).
if you take a regular class, the highest gpa you can get with an A+ is a 4.67. An A would be 4.33, and an A- would be a 4- it keeps going down from there (3.67 for a B+… etc). An honors class is exactly the same but with one point extra (so 5.67 for an A+, 5.33 for an A, and 5 for an A-). An AP class gets you a 6.67 for an A+, 6.33 for an A, and 6 for A-
Have you actually taken the SAT or ACT? It is meaningless to speculate on your chances based on an imaginary score; no college has ever admitted a student on the strength of a hypothetical result.
@woogzmama yes I have a 2320 on the SAT and a 34 on the ACT
You certainly have a chance, but students with perfect scores and grades (as you can confirm by myriad posts and threads on this site) get rejected all the time.
