So I just wanted to know if I am on the right track for me to get into UCLA or UC Berkeley.

I'm extremely worried that I might not be able to get in. I haven't take the SAT or ACT yet. Can I still get in? My sophomore year is done! Only junior year left.

Berkeley engineering is more difficult to get admitted to than other divisions (although specific engineering major also affects selectivity). Having your worst grades in math and science is not a good way to improve your chances for Berkeley engineering admissions. Not getting A grades (or 5 scores on AP tests if you take AP courses) in high school biology and chemistry does not bode well for doing pre-med.

Thank for the information. Do you think if I ace my junior year, it will improve my chances significantly? What would you say my chances are out of 100%?

A stellar UW GPA is critical to getting into a UC

@vpatwardhan My UW is 3.7, while my W is 4.5. The reason for the huge difference is because my courses are rigorous. Does UCLA or UCB look at a fully-weighted GPA or a capped GPA? Thank you for your input.

They will look at everything, it is ‘holistic’ admissions. Just do your best. You only have half your hs record and no SAT yet so chill.

I won’t sugarcoat: looking at your grades alone, you’re going to have a tough time getting into Cal and/or LA, especially for engineering. Both schools have highly competitive engineering departments with close to 10% acceptance rates. That being said, doing well in junior year, as well getting good SAT/ACT scores (2200+/33+) will go a long way towards boosting your stats. Additionally since Berkeley uses a “holistic” admission system your ECs and essays -if done correctly- could go a long way towards getting you admitted.

Hopefully you’re also considering some of the other UCs (SD, Davis, and Irvine at least) as well as some CSUs for safeties.

@saif235 thanks for your input. I will definitely be applying to all the UCs and to Cal poly pomona and san luis. Thanks for your help!
