This year the avg SAT for Storrs was 1400 or so from what I recall. Overall you have a good record but it is possible you might get admitted and asked to start at another campus, which is pretty common at many state high schools. You can usually transfer to Storrs after 1-2 years if so. Good luck! Where else are you looking?
I think you’d definitely have a fair shot. I second what the other comment said about a possible inter-university transfer. It is possible you may have to start at another campus, but you can probably transfer to Storrs soon enough. Try to retake your SAT and aim for a 1350 or higher for now. If you did much better in one section than the other, try to focus on the worse section and how you can improve it. Then, you can super-score for most schools, and they will combine both sections into one higher composite score (your highest reading score + your highest math score), which would be great!!
The APs and Honors courses are great. When you apply to colleges, you will have to create a cerain “box” that you will fit into and advertise (ex: you can embody being a musician, being a charitable member of community service, etc.) Whatever you like to do, structure your application around that and promote it. Colleges are typically looking for these different types of people to fill up a multi-talented group. Make sure to structure your application around being an athlete and giving back through community service. UConn seems to be big on sports, so if you have impressive stats, this could only offer more incentive for them to accept you.
Your essay will also be VERY important, so spend your summer working on it before you apply in the fall. Get tons of opinions, show to lots of people, and make it personal. What makes you different from everyone else? What is meaningful to you? How will you stand apart from others? If you don’t have anything else to write about, I’d write about sports and how they mean a lot to you- maybe a game that you’ll always remember, a moment you learned to believe in yourself, etc. If you write a good, moving essay, it’ll give a greater impact to your application.
I got into UConn and while everyone is different, it sounds like you have a good shot at this. Good luck!
That SAT avg is not accurate also acceptance rate is 48% so not that tough.
I believe avg is around a 1200- 1230 for SAT.
The honors college per se is an avg of 1470…so that 1400 for the general population of UConn students is erroneous.
so with a 1300 sat, a wiegted gpa of 3.7, ap and honors classses every year with plenty of activities, out of state, and a psychology major. Whats my chances?
