Can I get into University of Florida, UNC at Chapel Hill, Stetson and/or Pepperdine??

I live in Florida. I have a 4.1 GPA, a 1990 composite SAT, and a 29 ACT (with a perfect 36 on the english section). I am in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Beta Club, Co-Founder of the Law Society, a varsity football player, and have 5 AP classes under my belt. I am also taking 5 more AP classes this upcoming year. I have helped for over a year at my mother's nonprofit organization called Florida Little Dog Rescue. I also have almost 100 hours of community service and am a member of the local Methodist Church. If someone could let me know if this is a solid r

Hey guys I’m starting my applications tomorrow so if you could respond that would great! Thanks!

Reach for UF, I’d say. Maybe a close reach… do you have any leadership or distinguishing EC’s other than just being in clubs and sports? What’s your unweightedMGPA?

Your in at Stetson. Don’t mention that your volunteer hours are at your mom’s organization. What is your unweighted GPA? Your SUS GPA? (The State University System uses only academic classes, with a weight of 0.5 for honors and 1.0 for IB/AP/DE. They use only English, social studies, science math and language. No art, music, chorus, leadership, business, architecture, health, PE, medical/applied science classes)

My community service hours weren’t from my mom’s organization, I just helped out there without recording hours. I was also the sport’s editor of my high school newspaper and my unweighted GPA is between a 3.6-3.7

If you worked at your mom’s organization without compensation and it would qualify as community service, I’d probably add that as another volunteer experience you’ve done / currently do and count them as hours.

Okay I’ll add that and my SUS is a 4.04. So what do you think my chances are of all these schools now?

I miscalculated, my actual SUS is a 4.38. That’s only my math, english, science, social studies and language courses. How does this look for UF or any other school on the list?

How small was the littlest dog you personally rescued? :)

Getting in to UF can be a crapshoot. Your a maybe. Your in at Stetson. Your not likely at UNC-CH.

MisterK the smallest dog was probably about 4 pounds. I’m not sure how that relates to the post so if you could answer my original question that would be great. And from what I have observed at UF it really is a crapshoot. I’ve seen people with higher qualifications than me get rejected and lower qualifications get accepted.

I seem to have similar stats. People have been saying I have a strong shot at getting in though. Why am I a match and he is not?

For one, we know your UW GPA AND your UF GPA, not his; secondly, you’re retaking your ACT; and thirdly, your EC’s are more “up there,” particularly with the leadership you have.

I said my unweighted GPA is a 3.6. UF GPA is a 4.1. and I am retaking my SAT and ACT. I’m also the sports editor of my award winning school newspaper and have received honorable mention from the FSPA for my layouts and columns.

No one has said anything about Pepperdine, is there no chance of getting in there?

Shall we assume by your sn you are planning to apply to Auburn? Your stats looks good for Auburn, IMO. UF and UNC are reaches, especially UNC taking only 18% from OOS. Are you planning to retake the SAT or ACT?

You are way above the 75%ile for Pepperdine. That should be a safety for you. I hear its pretty religious. Is that ok for you?

Yes I am fine with attending a religious school, especially one as prestigious as Pepperdine. I’ve read that compared to other religious schools, they are much less strict.
