Which of these schools will I possibly be granted admission?

I am applying to UF, FSU, UCF, AuburnU, Pepperdine, UMiami, and StetsonU.

My student bio is:

I am a Florida resident. I have a 4.1 weighted GPA (only core classes), a 3.5 unweighted GPA (3.6 counting electives), a 1990 SAT and a 29 ACT. I am sports editor of my school newspaper, have 150 hours of community service, am in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Beta Club and co-founder of the Law Society. I am also a varsity football player. I have taken 5 AP classes and the rest were honors, and I am taking another 5 next year (senior year).

My mother and grandfather went to Auburn.

Any answers would be awesome!

don’t really know these schools – but just looked up their admissions stats for you – assessment based purely on your relative stats and admission percentages for the schools.

Auburn, FSU, UF, UCF – Your stats are well above average.(Safety or Near Safety)

Stetson – Target-near safety
Pepperdine, – Target
U of Miami – Target

To be honest, it wouldn’t surprise me if you got into each and every school on this list. (though they way things go these days, if you missed at one or two, I wouldn’t be shocked either).

Overall, I think you’re selling yourself short – you would have a good shot at more competitive schools than most of these.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback!

You say I’m selling myself short, any recommendations for schools that might be more of a “reach”?

Auburn is very different from U Miami. What type of school are you looking for? Big, small, urban, suburban?

I’d be happy to make some recommendations with a little more information about what you’re looking for!

I’ve seen all of these schools and love them, that’s why I’m applying!

I don’t have any specific qualifications for the school, I’d be happy in a big or a small school.

look at pitzer, colby, uc santa barbara, occidental, and university of richmond as some more match/low- mid reaches

U So. California, Pomona, UVa, Wake Forest, and Claremont McKenna as some higher reaches

Thanks imasophomore!

What do you think my chances are at the schools I listed?

UF, - match to high match
FSU, - safety/low match
UCF, - don’t know, safety is my guess
AuburnU, - don’t know
Pepperdine, - high match
UMiami, -high match, i went there as a freshman
stetson- don’t know

Thanks for the feedback!

To the rest of the CC community, what do you think?

pepperdine deffinitly I think

The two that I’m most concerned about are UF and UMiami.

Any more opinions about me chances at those schools?

If anyone was wondering my SAT with only reading and math is a 1270. I got a 720 on writing. I am also taking both the ACT and SAT again in the coming months.

Anyone else want to rate my chances?

Not to be rude, but all of these schools are exceptional reaches based on your stats. You’d need a 3.8UW and 2150+ to be semi-competitive for most all of these.

I know all of those schools are really far reaches, that’s why I’m not applying to them.

I’m shooting for schools that I’ll hopefully get into, but there is a chance that I won’t I suppose.

I can only advise on the 2 I know well, AU & UF. You’re totally in at AU and bring that ACT score up only 1 point and you have full tuition paid. I know UF really uses GPA to weed out applicants and yours is a little low for them, but since you’re in state and you clearly have taken a rigorous curriculum you still have a good chance. So I’d apply to both of those.

(but personally ROLL TIDE)
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1191467-chance-me-southern-ivies-ill-chance-back.html

You need to improve that SAT score, your chances of getting in will increase.

Are you serious about the full tuition paid with only one more point on the ACT? Ive only taken it once and I had no idea what I was going in to, so I should be able to bring it up at least 1 point. I only need to improve my math and reading, my English was a 35.

And the UF thing, how much will my chances increase by just be improving my ACT or SAT by a few points?

Pepperdine has a surprisingly low admit rate for it’s stats.

I was just inducted as president of the law society, will this raise my chances at all?

Which of these schools require recommendation letters? I know UF doesn’t and I know Pepperdine and UMiami do but I’m not sure about the others.
