Before Freshman year - Worked at a Home Heathcare office as a File clerk. Played tennis.

Before Sophomore year - Self-studied Biology, Chemistry, Geometry Honors, and Precalculus Honors. Worked at the same Home Healthcare office. Started reading literature about Neuroscience.

Before Junior year - Tennis. Tutored. Continued my independent research on Neurodegeneration.

Before Senior year - Research at UofM! Prepared for competitions. P90X.

Standardized Tests:
ACT: 35
SAT II: I'm in sort of a dilemma. As you can see, my Sophomore year wasn't too hot, especially in Comp. Physics and I didn't even do so great in AP Chem. To make up for those failures, I was hoping to take the Subject Tests for Physics and Chem so that I can show colleges that I actually do know the course material. However, I had a registration debacle and I wasn't able to register for the tests. The November test date is the last one for UofM since they need all the scores by Feb. 1. What should I do?!

Misc.:
Teacher Recommendations: They should be excellent. AP Biology and Latin teachers.
Counselor Rec: Not sure. I had a counselor for the first 3 years who loved me but then quit, but my new counselor should still give me a good rec.
Additional Recs: Debate Coach, Graduate Student who helped me with my research.
State: Michigan
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: $100,000+
Hooks: I don't know what qualifies for a hook, but I would say that my Research at UofM and my classes at UofM are hooks, right? I'm not really sure...

I am going to focus my app around my work with children (tutoring/mentoring) and my research.

Thank you for your comments in advance! I appreciate your advice/criticism.

UMI: Match/High match

Match. You’re looking pretty good with the 35 and decent ECs.

I’d say high match, only because your GPA is a little low. Match me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1586584-chance-me-some-schools.html</a></p>

Thanks, everyone! If I take my Subject Tests in January, can they still count for my UofM app?

Yup^ cuz their deadline is Feb. 1 right?

def a math for UofM

Chance me??
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1587659-chance-me-bu-please.html</a></p>

Thanks guys! I appreciate the responses.

Bump 10char

Your GPA is a bit low for UMich but your course load is reasonably good. Your ACT is great. You should be a match for LSA in state.

Thanks for the chance, billscho! My sophomore year was pretty unique for my school. Computational Physics and AP Chemistry are actually Senior Year classes, but because I tested out of Biology, Chemistry, Geometry Honors, and Precalc Honors, they let me take it then. I was the first to ever do that apparantly. Even though I didn’t do too hot in Comp. Physics, I hope they realize that it was a Senior Elective and that I’m taking both AP Physics Cs this year.

Anyone else have any advice/criticism/compliments/etc…?
