Are you a Virginia resident? If so, I think your chances at W & M/UVA are at least decent. If you do live in VA, where? I’ve heard from W & M students (though I don’t know how accurate this is) that it’s easier for VA students from outside of the NOVA area to be admitted because the applicant pool from NOVA is so strong and the school wants to accept students from all regions in VA. If you’re from VA, your counseling department should have a pretty accurate idea of your chances based on how past students have fared at the state universities.

W & M’s common data set for last year shows their 25/75 SAT (CR/Math) percentiles were 1260/1440; for the ACT, 28/32. At Emory, it was SAT 1300/1480; ACT, 29/33. Duke’s figures for 2008 (the last year I could quickly find) were 1340/1530 ; ACT, 30-34. A more difficult admit, since they’ve almost certainly gone up since then.

^^according to IPEDS, the numbers are nearly the same. UVa has a slightly lower admit rate (32% vs. 34%). W&M has SAT-VR scores (~10 points), but lower Math scores (~10 points).

You really seem to be focusing on all schools that are tough to be admitted to. Even as an instate student,UVa and William and Mary are not a given with a 1320 SAT. It would be a good idea to put some less selective schools on your list just in case.
