So I just received a mail that I got accepted & got merit scholarship for the college
However, I want to know that if I can get more(additional) scholarship after I get the merit scholarship…
I’m curious about this b/c I turned in my app. like on Jan 30 (deadline was feb.1) so I feel like the acceptance&scholarship letter came bit early?..(I thought the mail would come in like March) So is there any chance to get more scholarship after this??
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
How much money do you need in order to make this place affordable? Did you file your financial aid application on time?
Unless the place you applied to specifically posted on its website that admissions and scholarship offers would not be sent until March, it can admit and offer scholarships as soon as those decisions are made. Especially with merit money for students that it really wants.
It may or may not. It did happen to my D a couple years ago that one of the college gave her another $10k per year after the first $10k/year scholarship.
Happened to me with University of Minnesota - after my initial scholarship offer, they threw in another couple thousand a year as the decision deadline approached. I wouldn’t count on it, though, and I’d look into whether or not the specific university has any history of doing so.
It depends on the school. My daughter received a substantial scholarship last year with her acceptance and wrote asking for more aid and got an additional grant.
It’s worth writing and asking.
If depends on the school, but should be considered a “bonus” not a factor in your ability to pay.
