Can I get scholarships to Mizzou/Boulder/Michigan?

  • My cumulative academic GPA is always unweighted at our school and is a 3.54/4.0. My cumulative all subject weighted GPA is 3.87/5.0.
  • 31 ACT

  • Peer Group program (program helping freshmen transition into high school, 75 students from the grade are chosen and its selective because its out of about 180)

Extras

  • Work at a juice bar and now at a frozen yogurt bar
  • After School All Stars’ volunteering counts in my hours, however I plan on volunteering in a hospital soon

Scholarship need based info

  • last year my mom made about 22,000 while my dad made about 200,000

Which of these schools do you think will give me any scholarship money? Can you please write a predicted estimated range of how much also? Please help because anything is very welcome! Thank you!!
UW-Madison
Mizzou
Colorado-Boulder
Michigan State

Do the NPCs on each school’s FA web page.

Madison is FAFSA only. If 0 EFC you could get some aid and loans but would still need to pay $30,000 for freshman year. You could apply for Chancellor’s and Powers Knapp scholarships for under-represented minorities. Are you an underrepresented minority?

With your stats, Boulder will offer between 10-15K (off the OOS price). UW doesn’t give OOS kids scholarships. Mizzou would offer the Mark Twain non-resident scholarship of $10K. MSU does offer merit aid to OOS students: https://admissions.msu.edu/finances/scholarships_merit.asp

@dfin2013 are you saying it is a fact that UW doesn’t give OOS kids scholarships, or that its very difficult to do so?

Are your parents married?

UW is so broke that they are likely to increase the OOS tuition a lot. Don’t expect any aid from them for OOS students and ACT 31 would not get you merit aid there either.

Michigan State doesn’t give much in merit aid.

And I’m surprised the estimate for Boulder is that high. I don’t know any that got much from CU. Not saying it isn’t possible, just not common.
