Can I give SAT I in January, wait till the results come, and THEN send the scores?

Let me elaborate.

Can I give SAT I in January, wait till my SAT results come out, see if they are good or bad, compared to my previous exam, and then decide if I want to send the scores to the dozen universities I am applying to?

bump bump bump bump

First, there are many colleges that require all testing to be completed by December so your Jan tests may mean nothing for those.

Second, as to the many colleges that accept Jan scores many of those state they want you to designate the college as one to automatically receive scores upon release in your test application (e.g., as one of your free sends) and thus send them without knowing the score. That assures they will arrive in time to be considered (score is usually sent two days before you even get it on-line) and waiting until after score comes out to order it sent does not assure that it will arrive in time to be considered (once scores come out it can take a week to even two weeks for CB to process your order and send the scores because it is always dealing with a huge number of orders made immediately after scores come out). Likely, it will get there in time to be considered even if you send after score comes out but that is not certain to occur.
