Hello, I apologize if this is the wrong section.

I'm currently a Master's degree student at Virginia Tech (got my undergrad at VT cum laude) and I have a pretty good reputation in my department (receiving funding for my thesis and is being pushed to do PhD by professors).

My brother is a senior this year and his GPA is around 3.2 and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help him get into VT. He really wants to attend here and I was wondering if recommendation letter is the best thing I can do.

The thing is we grew up in an unstable family, domestic violence, I had to testify against my own father, we been homeless, and recently my mother had surgery for a tumor. My brother and I dealt with some rough times and I know my brother can do better with my influence if he attends VT. If I was able to succeed at VT I know my brother can too. I'm pretty sure his high school GPA was low due to our family issues, and his grade dropped alot when we heard our mother was diagnosed with tumor.
so...
I was wondering if my recommendation letter will have any say in his application and I was wondering if talking to admissions would help.

If you have any suggestion please let me know

thank you!
