Can I just use REA's APUSH book instead of my school's textbook?

<p>The US History textbook from school for my APUSH class is so long, thick, and wordy. 3 chapters are 100 pages long. When I read it, I don't remember anything. I'm thinking about just using the REA book. My teacher gives out tests with 25 multiple choice questions directly from the REA book anyways, and we rarely use the textbook in class. Is this the smart thing to do? To just study from the REA book?</p>

<p>If his tests are directly out of the REA book, then use it. Even so, the REA is great for both the AP and any AP-based school finals.</p>

<p>I used the REA book myself in conjunction with my school textbook (American History: A Survey by Alan Brinkley), but I don't think I could've gotten a 5 using just REA.</p>

<p>Maybe consider getting another review book? I hear that Amsco is really good for APUSH. It's considerably longer than REA, but since you have quite a long time to go until the AP exam, you'll be able to go through it.</p>

<p>REA is a company I guess...it's like Princeton Review or Barron's or w/e...</p>

<p>And I used the REA book all of last year too, it sorta has some superfluous information though...</p>

<p>We use "The American People". It's all social history, takes hours to comb through one chapter (no subtitles!).</p>

<p>I use that little condensed review book with the american flag on the cover. I forgot what it's called, something like "United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Exam". I've gotten A's on all my tests so far (teacher gets the test questions straight out of previous AP exams; he used to grade the APUSH exams years ago).</p>

<p>Lecture most days
Use a small book paperback book with primary sources a few days.
Talk about random stuff days that have to do with the time period (witches in salem, colonial childbirth, etc.) some days
Exams 2 times a quarter</p>

<p>roamorse - I think your talking about AMSCO which is the best AP U.S. history prep book in my opinion.</p>
