I would like to go to medical school but also want a solid backup in case that doesn't pan out. Is there anything wrong with majoring in accounting? If this is possible, I don't see why more people don't do it since it would mean they are safe if they don't get into med school. I would of course take the pre-med requirements on the side.

I do not know the answer to you question. However, an accounting degree plus a solid gpa in science requirements would be great preparation for those med schools that offer the MD/MBA together.

It would be a lot of work, but I think you could do it. I have quite a few friends who are pre-med, with a wide range of majors, including dance. If you have strong credentials and meet the requirements for med school, you can major in just about anything.

Just beware of a VERY heavy workload, and pace yourself. Having a college degree in biology/chemistry/"typical" pre-med majors will still get you through life if you don't go to med school...

Accounting is ok ....but if you are not enthusiastic about it your grades may suffer precluding med school.
