I am sitting in on a class that ends at 9:50 and I have ten minutes to get to Jackson hall for an information session and tour. We do have a car, but can i make it in time?

Nope. And a car won’t help too much unless you parents are planning on picking you up from Carrington and dropping you off at Jackson without parking at either place. Especially since I’m assuming you are visiting on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday since the class is ending at 9:50? Pedestrians get priority, so taking a car could very well be slower than actually walking believe it or not.

When I did this with my son a couple years ago, the “start time” at Jackson was rather soft. In our case, the tour was first then the information session. I recall a big crowd was shuffled into a room where the tour guides briefly introduced themselves. Then the crowd reassembled outside and touring students gathered around the tour guides of their choice (based on, say, tour guides majors, interests, energy level, dress . . . whatever!). My sense was that we didn’t set off from Jackson until 10 or 15 minutes after the advertised start time. So, I think you’ll be okay. I’m guessing it’s a 15 minute walk, most of it on South Rd (?), from Carrington to Jackson (but study the map b/c you can shorten the distance with angles) Can anyone confirm ~15 min Carrington to Jackson walk estimate?

There is no way you can walk from Carrington to Jackson Hall in 15 minutes - they are on completely opposite sides of campus. You can cut across the middle of campus which would save a few minutes but you are basically traveling in a huge diagonal. It would take 20-25 minutes at least if you are walking at a brisk pace. It is a pretty, albeit long, walk!

My mistake! Listen to Jambaby. I pictured it shorter. Good luck!

No worries - last semester I had to go from Carrington to Hill Hall in 10 minutes. It looks like a pretty straight shot on the map, but oh my gosh, it was not possible. The sidewalks were so busy at that time and I would have had to jog. The bus stop in front of Carrington saved me! : -)

I would check the bus schedule in class and leave a little early if you need to in order to catch the U. Get off at whichever raleigh st. stop is closest to Jackson and walk the rest.

^^^ Bad idea about catching the U. The U always stops for about 5 minutes on Franklin street, because making an entire loop around campus w/stops takes about 25 minutes, and they try to have a bus come by every 15 minutes. Probably leaving early and walking would be the best idea.

You don’t want to sit for a whole class anyways, you’ll have to do that enough once you get to college.
