Can I make it to these top notch universities and colleges?

This is my first time using CC!!

I am a half Japanese half Ghanaian (passport is Japanese) studying in a British High School in Ghana (GCE curriculum). I had 7 A* (equivalent to US A+) and 1 A in my IGCSE (also called O levels). Now I am in lower six, which is sort of like junior year. I am going to write my A level examinations next year. I am going to write my SAT this Saturday and I am aiming for 2250. My grades are quite good: I'm a consistent student, and I never get anything lower than a B (a B here is a low A in US). I am in the top 5 for all subjects I offer and I have been on the principal honor roll list for 4 years.

For extracurriculars, this is the list:
Deputy Secratary General for schools's MUN
Chairperson for Security Council MUN
Editor of school magazine
Leader and founder of a girls empowerment club for young girls in my school
Leader of a diabetes awareness foundation which raises funds for victims of type 1 diabetes
Student Representative for my class for 4 years
Community service every week with elementary school students in my school
School event support team
Dental assistant at local dentist

I have also won 2nd place in a business competition hosted by Lancaster University. This year, I will run for head girl of the schools prefect body, which I will hopefully win. I am also going to start volunteering at a animal shelter and will be doing an internship at a Geology Research Centre.

I come from a low income background though...my dad is the only bread winner in the family. Now to my question. With these things, which I will continue to improve upon till I apply this December, can I get into the following schools?
Yale University
Cornell University
Stanford University
Swarthmore College

If not, what should I do? Are there other very good schools that will give financial aid to my family that I have a chance in? I really want to go to a great university but I don't want to put pressure on my dad...please help :(

As an international student needing financial aid you are at a disadvantage no matter how good you are on paper.

Your test scores can help, but they are TBD right now.

Just based on that, your chances are low for all that you have listed. Maybe 2-3% chance at each?

Even if you’re “qualified” the schools you mentioned reject >90% qualified applicants, so your chances would be low in any case, as would anybody’s.

Thank you guys…

Wow that’s some tough stuff to face :frowning:
If these universities are may not accept me because of my background, which schools will? Is it not the case that the top schools are more willing to provide aid? Do you have any suggestions though? Are there ways, apart from winning the lottery, that I can increase my minute chances to getting into these schools?

Sorry but what does TBD stand for???

Do you think you can elaborate a tad bit more? Am I qualified enough, in your point of view?

TBD= To Be Determined

Ok thank you  wish me luck this Saturday! Do you think you can rechance me when my scores come back??
