I got accepted into Colby College in Maine, and Trinity University in Texas, and because of many reasons I am not sure of which one I will go to. Someone told me to pay enrollment fees for both so that they will hold a place for me and then I will have more time to choose instead of having to take the decision by May 1st. Can I do this?

You can do it, but it is unethical. And if the schools find out they may rescind your acceptance. You can call the schools and ask for an extension to decide. Explain why you need one, financing, familoy situation. The worst they can do is say they need your decision by May 1.

Ok thanks a lot, i thought about the unethical factor, and its not something I would normally do, I know theres people on waiting list for both of them. It is just that is a special case in which theres other stuff that may force me to stay in Texas (closer to home).
Thanks a lot

Why don’t you phone the schools and ask if you can have an extension? How soon will you have clarity on whether or not the issues at home will be a factor? If you need 3 weeks they may view that as reasonable. 3 months may be harder.

You might be able to get an extension, but I’m pretty sure double depositing is illegal.

I can understand why people who are wait-listed would get upset, I needed to wait for the best scholarship. Eventually, someone got my reserved spot; they just had to wait a little longer.
