Can i please have your opinion on my housing situation

Hey everyone like alot of you out there i am going to be an incoming freshman next fall at UC Davis. I was able to (finally) check my housing information and i’m not too sure how i feel about it. Because i dont know much about the school and the dorms (outside of the one i stayed in for orientation) i was wondering if any of you more informed people coudl help i guess list out some pro’s and con’s about the situation…

i have a single in the Leach hall i believe it was the old caurtro, i’ve read that this hall is known for being relatively antisocial…

thanks in advance for your advice.

I have a single in leach too. I think it won't be anti-social unless you want it to be anti-social.

is it one of the cuarto's that has a hot tub and pool?

Those singles are actually configured somewhat around a suite style so there will be people living right outside your door. The only thing I dont like about those leech rooms are that theyre kinda old but making friends shouldnt be a problem.

Also, walking outside and checking out the bright lights of the brand new tercero south complex might get a little unnerving, as well :p..

"...I've read that this hall is known for being relatively antisocial..."

Every year, there is a new batch of students for the dorms. If for one year an area is described as being antisocial, doesn't guarantee the next will be the same. To be social is not govern or influenced by surroundings, but by the people within that particular surrounding. Therefore, I believe your statement is wrong. Hope this gives you a new perspective on your dorming situation.

have fun cleaning up the barf in the bathrooms that no one will claim inside of tercero. (housekeeping won't) with 11 people to a bathroom it will be hard to figure out who did it! zutto zutto dude you have the best possible situation, quiet when you want and social can always be found when you desire. at the most 3 people to a bathroom, and you can leave your possessions in there, no caddying around necessary. no running across the hall in your towel. when you go into the bathroom and shut the door it is all yours, and best of all a pool and spa (awesome dude!) i hear that poolside gets very social. stay where you are and give it a chance.

iv'e heard from numerous friends that you can forget about even attempting to sleep inside of tercero or segundo before 1 am, and studying in there is a nightmare. i guess there is always the library.

Leach is in the same area as Tercero not caurto - that means it's actually on campus (but Tercero doesn't have a pool). Leach's single rooms are much larger than other singles (at least my friend's single in leach was much larger than my single in Tercero G building). I would consider yourself lucky. Other advantages that people have mentioned are also true - the singles are arranged suite style there, & only about 3-4 people to a bathroom. It's near a ton of other dorm buildings so it is only as anti-social as you make it. You don't have to hang out in Leach alll day.. you can visit friends in other buildings.

alright cool, you guys are right about the social opportunities are what you make of it , thanks for your opinions/advice
