<p>Decisions just came out, so if there are any questions about dorms let’s ask them here. Here’s a quick rundown of each dorm</p>
<p>Segundo/Tercero (basically the same):</p>
<ul>
<li>Both are on campus</li>
<li>Both have large dining commons</li>
<li>Both are traditional dorms with a double/triple room, bathrooms down the hall, ID cards swipe you in, etc</li>
<li>generally regarded as more social</li>
</ul>
<p>Cuarto (Emerson, Webster, Thoreau):</p>
<ul>
<li>Off campus (5-10 minute bike ride to campus), so it’s more secluded, which can be a plus or minus</li>
<li>On main road with shops and bus stop right in front with easy access to almost all of Davis</li>
<li>Suite style configuration, with 4-6 people living in a room (I think there can be 8 in Thoreau), which can be good because you have more people and if you dislike a roommate, you have multiple others</li>
<li>Own bathrooms inside your room or in your hallway (like not literally in your room, one room usually does, or its just outside your bedroom door) which is really nice</li>
<li>Own living room in each room for a TV or whatever</li>
<li>Smaller dining commons</li>
<li>Regarded as less social than a normal dorm, just because there’s more people in your own room to talk to and the way the rooms are set up</li>
</ul>

<p>I know you said there’s not much difference but, PERSONALLY do you think freshman should house in Segundo or Tercero?</p>

<p>Do you prefer traditional or suite style dorms? Also, how do you go about selecting dorms? Do you say that you want to live in X hall, or do they decide for you?</p>

<p>I guess if I had to choose, I would choose Segundo. But there really isn’t much of a difference.</p>

Same as any other college… get to know your roommate(s), people on your floor, in classes, clubs, sports teams, etc. Sorry it’s a generic answer, but that’s really all you can do.</p>

I personally would have preferred the traditional dorm due to the social aspect, but the suites are nice in their own right. On your application you put in your rank of most wanted to least wanted dorms and they fill you based on availability I guess, and maybe if you’re in a theme program.</p>

<p>Dont segundo and tercero has bathrooms taht are shared by 4 rooms and not all jsut hallways ones?</p>
<p>Community bathrooms, which are arranged in clusters of one bathroom for every four rooms, are utilized in the following halls:</p>
<p>• Segundo Area: Alder Hall, Miller Hall, and Thompson Hall
• Tercero Area: Kearney Hall and Laben Hall</p>

<p>hey so im going to be a freshman next year and i am going to be an exercise biology major and i will be doing a sport, what dorm should i apply for if i want to meet alot of new people and have fun?</p>
<p>I transferred to Davis this year, definitely go for Segundo. You are right next to the ARC and DC, and it’s much easier to meet people than at Cuarto.</p>
<p>Tercero is also easy, but being right next to the ARC is a definite plus which puts Segundo on top. Plus, it’s closer to the university mall.</p>
<p>I’ve heard they are rennovating Segundo and Tercero had three new buildings built as part of its cluster. </p>
<p>Also, I don’t think that you can register for a dorm until you accept UCD’s offer.</p>
<p>I’m on the waitlist, though i’m still looking into all the information and everything, hopefully i get accepted from the waitlist i will FOR SURE go to Davis if I do. ANYWHO my question is that since i’m on the waitlist will i end up getting my last choice of housing because i’ll be sending it in late? Or when does Davis start reviewing who’s going to get what housing? My order would be Tercero, Segundo, Cuatro</p>

<p>i read somewhere that some freshmen who go to cuarto can park their cars on the side streets around there. this would be awesome for me to bring a car with me my freshmen year… but i think i prefer tercero. is this rumor true about being able to bring cars?</p>
<p>I read somewhere on the site that if you’re living on-campus (Tercero and Segundo, then?), you’re not allowed to get a parking permit, which means you can’t keep a car around. anyone want to double check this?</p>

<p>If you live at Cuarto you can park your car for free on the street, or in the public parking lot across the street.</p>
<p>Until about October it’s great and you can come and go easily. then people who didn’t know there was parking bring there cars up too and the whole situation gets crowded.</p>
<p>Basically, parking is a real ***** from Mondy through Thursday if you bring your car, but it clears up on the weekends which is handy.</p>
<p>Long story short, if you live at Cuarto yes bring your car there is places to park.</p>
<p>ok awesome thanks for the info. a car would be great to bring along for coming back home and whatnot. but i have one more question. if i dormed in tercero could i still park around cuarto? i visited and went inside tercero and love the dining hall and everything… so i would prefer to dorm there. do you have to dorm at cuarto to park around that area?</p>

<p>On the website, it says transfer students choosing to stay in the dorms can only choose between Emerson and Webster in Cuarto and Leach in Tercero on their housing application; however, could transfers move into Segundo or the other Tercero residence halls if someone from one of those buildings asks for a roommate?</p>
