I know that Yale’s Questbridge program is non-binding through College Match. So Could I apply ED to Dartmouth the regular way (Common App), and at the same time rank Yale in QuestBridge for College match? Yale’s Questbridge program is non-binding so it shouldn’t interfere with Dartmouth’s ED.
No. If you do rank thru Match you should not plan on doing ED. Match is already a way of doing up to 8 EDs.
You can always become a finalist and then not rank, which frees you up to do EA or ED wherever you want, according to the schools’/school’s own rules.
If you are accepted as a QB finalist you could
– rank only Yale and Dartmouth, in order of preference.
– decline to rank and do EITHER EA at Yale or ED at Princeton
If you decide not to try for a match you can still list QB finalist on your list of accomplishments if you do EA or ED (and you are still considered a QB scholar). If you do not get accepted ED or EA your QB app can still be forwarded to partner schools for RD. This is where most students have the best luck.
Not sure about Princeton but Yale is a SCEA school. Single choice means it is your single choice for a private school. You can only concurrently apply EA to a public school or to a school where a special scholarship depends on an early action app, and in that case it would be wise to call and be sure.
Lastly, if you rank any other schools for Match be aware that if Yale and Dartmouth do not match you but another school does, you forego your chance at RD at those – and other – schools. But if they really are your top choices why not try? You are guaranteed generous financial aid through Match.
Now is the time to really think out a flow chart and know your preferences, so it is commendable that you are figuring this out now, instead of at crunch time!
Don’t try to hard to game the system. If you want to do ED somewhere. Do not do the match. You can still do any other application per the ED rules.
