Can I redeem myself from doing poorly high school freshman year?

This past year I got a 2.6 GPA and a 3.1 GPA. Not because I lack intelligence, but because I lacked motivation and did not put effort. I'm going to take many Honors & AP classes from now on & strive to get higher than a 4.0 each semester. I'm gonna study my butt off before taking the SAT!

There's also several clubs at my school that help out the community. I would love to help the less fortunate! Not only because making other people happy has always given me joy, but because my family in another country is what you would call poor. When my family came to the US from that country they also struggled alot financially, but they have it all together now! Since I have a huge understanding & sympathy for the less fortunate I'll dedicate my time to helping out. Are there any universities where you think I'll still have a shot at? Stanford & Princeton are out of the question, right? :(

Get all A/A+s and next few years and you aren’t out of the running just yet…

So you didn’t do many extracurriculars this year either?

No not quite! If you put all of your effort( all of it) intoyour work and ec’s for the net few years, you can still be considered!!

Um…

I won’t lie, the really low GPA freshman year is going to hurt your cumulative GPA/class rank. Also I hate to sound rude/cranky, but every other person on these forms with a low GPA says something about how they work hard and will bring their grades up, that being said I don’t think that many actually do. If you can get your grades up you have a good shot at some schools, but you need to be more involved in clubs. Ivies are all going to be reaches…
