I’m a senior who just finished with the college application process. My freshman and sophomore grades were uploaded via the common app with my initial transcript, and my junior year grades were added later as an optional update. My mid-year report has already been added, as the first trimester of senior year was finished back in November. With this being said, will colleges actually see the grades I get from this point forward? I know that schools will require an end-of-year report if I’m admitted, but, until then, will they be able to take second or third trimester grades into account for admissions?
I’m not asking because I’ve been hit with senioritis- quite the opposite. Senior year has been by far the busiest and most productive of my life. I’ve taken the time to really focus on and thrive in my extracurricular activities, which has left me with very little breathing room. Would it be the end of the world for top colleges if I got my first B ever?
Even a couple of B’s won’t make a difference. You just don’t want your grades to go into a free fall. A saying often quoted on CC is to avoid D’s, F’s, and felonies as well as stupid social media posts. If you are looking at top colleges I think it is safest to keep grades in the B range.
I think senioritis means letting your grades slip. Aiming for a B might leave you with a C if you’re not careful. I don’t think a B will matter, but I’d ease up on the ECs a bit first.
@austinmshauri I wouldn’t be aiming for a B, either an A or an A- would be the most likely outcome… and it’s just AP Calc I’m worried about. I have several prestigious academic competitions coming up and I’m really just wondering if It would be better to spend time preparing for and doing well in those than slaving over my AP Calc grade.
