Can I reuse my Common App essay for my NYU Film admisions essay?

I created an essay for common app using their prompt. However, I’m wondering if I can use that same essay for my NYU Film application, because the prompts are nearly the same. Would the NYU admissions team see that my common app essay and Film essay are the same (little to no variations between the two of them), and would they mind?

(For my common app essay, I wrote about an experience that changed me, and the NYU Film application is asking me to write an essay on the same topic.)

Yes, they will see that both are the same. Try writing something that does answer the prompt but using a different experience. Both essays should be different because if you submitted the same essay twice, you are cutting yourself short. Two opportunities to showcase yourself to NYU would be cut down to one.
