@savtransfer This year
I SIR’d to UCSB & UCLA. I was taking Calc II and wanted to make sure i got a B before I withdrew my SIR to UCSB.
UPDATE: I did in fact end up SIR’ing to both schools. Semester grades were not released until June 10th and SIR was due by June 1st. I ended up getting a B in Calc 2 and am excited to be attending UC Irvine this fall . There were NO repercussions as many warned, but I did, however, receive an email from the UC system informing me that though I “may not be aware,” I can only SIR to one campus. They asked me to email the campus I was not planning to attend and that was it. Easy. The spot then went to a waitlisted student (for all those who tried making me feel guilty). No one was hurt except for my wallet lol. Zot zot.
@Tik1127 @Gumbymom I would particularly like to point out that both of you were EXTREMELY wrong. Maybe next time you should try scaring off students that are a little more gullible. You know you love me, xoxo, gossip girl.
@savtransfer, I am glad everything worked out for you. I however would like to point out that all the UC’s state on their websites that an applicant can only SIR to one campus. This is not false information or trying to scare off students. Also in one UC information session, an admission officer did state that SIRing to 2 UC’s COULD result in both admissions being rescinded.
I would also like to point out that you went the extra mile and got permission from UCI so i am sure that reaching out to the schools in question was to your benefit and I am sure many students are not willing to do that but just ignore the warning of SIRing to 2 schools. Could you imagine the havoc brought on admissions if every student did this???
I wish you the best with your college career and in closing I would like to say that gloating is not a commendable personality trait.

@savtransfer, I hope you take a lesson from Gumbymom and stay classy. Youth and immaturity are no excuse for being rude to people who are merely providing answers as stated on the UCs websites. Anecdotal stories are not official policies, and as evident by UC Irvine this summer, colleges can strictly or loosely apply their policies depending on the situation.
You can actually do many things that you legally can’t. Sometimes you don’t get caught. Sometimes you get caught but somehow get away. Doing wrong things and then luckily getting away doesn’t make it right nor safe.
It would have been a smart and safe choice to SIR to UCSD instead of UCI if you were pretty sure about not getting the B that you ended up getting.
It was reckless and unreasonably risky, even setting morality aside, to try to keep both options. And certainly it’s not something to boast about while incriminating yourself publicly on your lying or falsely pretending to UC admission. Internet anonymity is an illusion.
