I applied to UF before the November deadline and I sent in everything they needed. (transcript, application fees, etc) My test scores were sent before the December deadline but I checked my application status and they haven’t received them yet. I called and they said because they haven’t received them yet I would be in the “second decison pool”. In other words, they will let me know the decision in late March instead of the beginning of February. I am really worried and anxious because UF is one of my top schools and I know how competitive it can get. I did everything I could so I could put myself in a good position to get in. Will this decrease my chances significantly of being accepted? Has anyone been in the situation or know anyone who has? Please help! Thanks
From what I know late transcripts really shouldn’t affect anything at all. Most colleges are even fine with late supplements, if it somehow comes to that. From my experience deadlines in the college application process aren’t as big of a deal as they’re made out to be on this forum.
I don’t know anything about UF but I presume that the only reason they moved you to the “second decision pool” is because they physically won’t have time to evaluate your application in time for the first decision pool results. Also, they probably have received your transcripts, but just haven’t updated your application status yet.
It really shouldn’t affect your chances at all.
***test scores (same thing applies for transcripts and test scores though)
Please don’t worry; the general rule is: You’re responsible for the timely submission of everything within your personal control; however – since you took the standardized test(s) before UF’s deadline and presumably had the results sent directly to the University – you’re not accountable for the ACT’s/SAT’s delays. Furthermore, I very much doubt if there is any difference in selectivity between “pools,” especially at a school of Florida’s size.
