Can I take online AP courses without my school's pre-requisites?

I’m thinking of taking AP human geo over on level us history (to make up for last year), so I plan to take US history online. However… I also want to take APUSH, but didn’t meet the pre-requirements to get in this year.

Is it possible to take APUSH as an ONLINE course, without pre-reqs from my school and still be accredited for it?

thanks

you’d have to ask your school, nobody else can answer that question.

Your HS has to agree to the course if you want it on your official HS transcript. And you have to make sure that the online school is accredited to teach AP in the first place.

The request will eventually end up with your principal, but I would suggest starting with your guidance counselor, who will likely go through the department head and then the principal. GET IT IN WRITING at least email if they approve you taking the course and putting it on your official HS transcript.

If it is on a separate transcript, I doubt colleges would bother to put it into your GPA calculation.

You can take it online and then take the test for AP Credit.
You will need your school to give you credit for the online class if you want to have actual credit through the school.
