My school won’t let me take a class, so is there a way that I can take it online? The school does offer online courses, but it simply refuses to let me take it, even though I have all the pre-requisites.
What website can I use to still take the class? I need the credit, and will colleges accept the online course even though it’s third-party?
I’m taking AP Psychology on APEX Learning. I suggest you check it out, as well as peer vendors such as FLVS and JHU CTY. My counselor was convinced that I can handle the extra courseload due to my prior academic merit and she agreed to include the grade on my transcript upon completion.
If you choose to take an online course, try asking your counselor if he/she would be able to include the grade on your transcript. It’ll be helpful if you’re generally a successful student. If your counselor doesn’t approve of this, then you can still take the course and send in the transcript provided by the vendor to the colleges of your choice. Though, it may not count towards your GPA, and the colleges may have to decide whether or not they want to factor it into your recalculated GPA as well. You might want to explain the situation in the “additional info” section. Good luck!
You can also try enrolling in a class at an online college like National University.
