Can I take the SAT subject test in Spanish if I come from a spanish speaking country?

Hello!
I just took the practice and I’m doing pretty well but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to take it if I come from a spanish speaking country? I mean, maybe there’s some advantage for me I don’t know? I was just wondering.
Thank you!

Usually, an SAT subject test in your native language won’t count for admissions purposes, but depending on the college may count for fulfilling their foreign language requirements (if they have one).

Aw, that’s a bummer. It’s actually the only subject test practice I’ve taken where I’ve made no errors. Would you recommend taking it? What’s the foreign language requirement?
Thank you!

What subject are you good at? Popular test combos include Math II (or Math I if you have not taken precalc), a science, and/or a humanities (literature or history).

Many colleges require students to take a foreign language as part of their general education requirements at the college. This is part of the breadth classes that complement your major. There are ways to fulfill this requirement, however, without taking the college courses. SAT II is accepted at some of those colleges as one way.

World History, Computer Science and Marketing but there’s no subject tests for the former two. I’m not taking any science classes but I kinda used to be good at it? As long as it wasn’t physics. These are my current stats in each class I take and they’re based on the 5 point grading scale
Economy 4.5
Business Math 3.8
Spanish Literature 4.1
Marketing and Advertising 4.7
Computer Science 4.8
History 4.6
Geography 4.6
Religion 4.6
Physical Education 4.5
Accounting 4.4
Business English 4.2

There is a world history subject test. I’d recommend taking that, Math 1 or 2 (depending on if you’ve had precalc), and the spanish one, since it may help you for the above reason. You can still submit the spanish one, it would just be in addition to the scores being used in admission.

Yeah they say not to take the language test for your first/native language

History is good, I took algebra for two years now it’s business math which is like airthmetics and we’re taking calc or precalc in senior year. My classes are chosen by the school so I can’t know what they’ll assign.

Is there a SAT for english? I mean I know there’s the TOEFL but my second language is english so. I speak Chinese hakka, but I don’t know how to read or write it, so it’s pretty much useless to bring it up?

Take any language test you wish even if you are a native speaker IF you think you can get a very high score. There are many students who grew up speaking both English and another language, and it looks impressive if you can get a very high score in another language test especially if you are going to major in something that has something to do with another country.

If you are asking whether you can meet a college’s requirement to have two subject tests when applying for admission by having one of the two be in your native language, the answer is yes unless the college requires something else (e.g.,MIT requires a math and a science). If you are asking what those colleges think about you if you do that, then be aware that a number have mentioned they are unimpressed with a high score in a language test submitted as one of the required tests by a native speaker and recommend that another be submitted.

It is best if the subject test in a native or heritage language is an additional test beyond what the colleges otherwise require or recommend.
