Here’s my problem: I enrolled into a community college, but haven’t started yet and I am moving away before the semester starts, two hours away to be exact. I will not be able to go to the college I am enrolled into.
I was wondering if I would be able to transfer to the other college, if my Financial Aid would also be transferable, and if what the steps would be to do this.
I really need to go to college, but sadly there’s a huge obstacle at the moment and I don’t know how to get through it.
Please help?
Community Colleges are open enrollment so it is no problem to change. It isn’t really a transfer if you don’t start. Make sure you withdraw properly and let them know you aren’t able to come. Often there are procedures online in the Student Handbook. The aid doesn’t ‘transfer’ you just let the new school know you will be applying for it. I assume you already filed the FAFSA and that is all they typically need.
- Cancel enrollment/withdraw from current school
- Apply to new school for admission and financial aid.
