I am a student at a community college in southern California. Due to issues in the beginning to my academic career, I did not take my studies seriously for two years and wasted my time. I eventually overcame academic probation and dismissal and now have a 3.3 GPA and I am almost finished. However, because I have been there for so long, and because I dropped so many classes in the beginning, I am no longer receiving financial aid. I am eligible fully by FAFSA, but my school won't give me my Pell grant because of my drop rate in the beginning. I have already appealed and they will not approve it because I am at 60 units and have been there too long. I only have three classes to go, but they are math courses and will take several semesters to complete.

My question is whether or not I can attend another local community college, without submitting my transcripts, receive financial aid (ONLY at that school - not both) and transfer those units to my old college?

Any help is appreciated; next step is to ask the Financial Aid office personally but I have a week until my appointment and hope for some input. Thanks everyone!
