Am studying in Business and concentrate in finance.

UCI seems like a good school. Why do you want to leave?

I attend UCI, its a nice school, overall. Sometimes, I feel like people don’t give the school a chance. Yes, I know people (3 so far) that have transferred out. 2 to UCLA, 1 to UCSD, I’m sure there are more.

Not sure how difficult it is, but I will assume that you need a higher-ish GPA b/c you aren’t supposed to transfer from UC to UC (from what I heard).

CCC transfers are given first priority but as long as you are in a UC you can probably transfer to another UC without too much difficulty. Even if you are at a four year private institution you have a decent chance of transferring to a UC with a strong GPA. It is basically only CSU to UC transfers that are for all practical purposes impossible.

If you are trying to transfer to UCB under Business as a UC-UC transfer, then your chances are pretty much non-existant. Last year Cal only accepted 2 students that were non-CC.

If you’re applying to UCLA business econ or regular econ, you pretty much need a 4.0 (avg gpa’s for those majors were ~3.94). The only problem about UCLA is they are known to reject UC-UC students for business econ/econ because of issues finding course equivalences. They made a fuss about one UCI student’s acct class (he posted on here), they made a mistake with my upper division writing class from UCSC, and one of my friends from UCSC was told he didn’t take intro to microecon (even though he took it at a CC).

Does he have to have a reason? It is his choice. People should stop nagging about why he wants to do it and answer the question he is asking.

And yes it is possible to transfer from UCI to UCLA/UCB. Just finish the required pre-reqs, keep your gpa high, and hope for the best. Also don’t take econ 25 for the accounting 1 requirement. Take management 30a. Sandaboy did this and was the reason he didn’t get into ucla/ucb.

In fact, I think UCI is good. But the question is: I have a dream, a difficult dream that you may think it’s just a joke, to get an investment banking job.

I have never heard a UCI business student is better than a UCLA/UCB student in IB.

So, I wanna transfer.

Say thanks to everyone who replied my thread.

If you want to be an IB wouldn’t it be better to graduate from UCI wih a high GPA and then get into a top business school like Wharton, Haas, Stern?

You gave a nice idea. But if I graduate from UCLA with a high GPA, is it better? I dicussed a lot with people like me and they were only mentioned UCLA/UCB. Seems like no one will take “UCI” with “IB” in thier mind.

Do you have an experience or memory about UCI student work for IB? SMCguy?

I agree, UCLA/UCB is always better…but from what I’ve seen undergrad at a top 100 school with a high GPA will usually get you into a top business school and it’s the business school that matters most.

Example…my boss went to Rutgers (ranked lower than UCI, but still top 100) and went to Columbia for business school. When she talks about school she only mentions Columbia business school.
