I am currently a 2nd year studying applied statistics at UCSB. Ever since my spring quarter of freshmen year till now, I made quite a few mistakes in terms of joining too many orgs, which resulted in a large drop of my GPA. Therefore, I am now considering transferring from UCSB to Cal Poly SLO for 1)to graduate with a higher GPA (since so many people are saying that GPA is that important today) 2)it is cheaper than UCSB and 3)it is closer to home.
SLO is very competitive for transfer students, so if you are transferring with a less than optimal GPA, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. Also, you need to make sure you meet SLO’s transfer requirements for your major which may be different than the courses at UCSB and make sure you do not exceed maximum transferable units especially if you have any upper division courses.
