Can I wear flip-flops to R-Day?

Do you wear your Oxfords to R-Day, or can I wear flip-flops? I mean, it's gonna be the middle of June there, for crying out loud, and they're just going to make you put on the Oxfords anyway...

I guess this is more of a question for the girls. What do you wear, knowing that it's the only non-uniform outfit you'll have in your possession? Do you dress up in sweats and a tee shirt (athletic) or jeans (casual) or slacks and a blouse (smart)?

Am I the only person who has given any thought to this?

(blushes)

I really don't give so much thought to clothing...it's just this one time, I swear...I honestly hate shopping...

Avis? Pourriez quelqu'une me repondre?

I can suggest looking at the pictures on the USMA web site to see how new cadets last year dresssed. Also, you will see good examples on the National Geographic show, "Surviving West Point".

I don't think it will matter much a few hours after you arrive.

So true, so true... because sooner or later, you end up wearing knee-high black socks, oversized gym shorts, and a lovely white tee...(with Oxfords, no less!) I saw the pics--also, I don't know if you've viewed this--they have hour-long videos shot from R-DAy 2003, 2002, 2001, and 2000 at www.virtualwp.org I couldn't get the sound to work on mine, but I got to see some cool stuff.

And the videos kind of answered my question...it would appear that short of indecent exposure, you can wear just about anything to R-Day...I saw some ties, short-shorts, hose, heels, jeans, tees...

Thanks a bunch for responding, momoftwins. Actually, I happen to be the younger of two fraternal twins born in 1987...my siste'rs off to pre-med.

hastellion---where are your from in Missouri? I got an appointment to WP, but I'm going to Kings Point....just curious, cause their was only like 3 or 4 people applying in my district, which is suprising because its St. Louis County

I can't answer your question for security reasons, but I got my nomination from Senetor Talent, so I probably couldn't answer it anyway...
Best of luck at Kings Point, flynavy05
