Can it be a story???

I want my essay to be a story with some literary elements employed. Does this work and is it effective? The story is of an event that happened to me and it is not embellished in any way. Hopefully I'll be able to get some input on a rough draft that I am writing as we speak. :)

There's a book called something like "essays that worked" that has in it essays submitted by kids who got into ivy league schools, and some of them are stories. It is okay to be creative.

Here it is:

Yes! Have you ever read any David Sedaris?! If you havn't, you should check him out before you start writing. He writes completely like it's a story and it's wonderful.

I have read A LOT of successful admissions essay samples that we personal stories. Just attach meaning to the story. Make it known WHY the story is important.

It can be a story- you should normally have part story, part reflection (usually more narrative, though)

It could work, but I think you should write it with you as one of the characters and the story should told from your character's point of view.
