Can it be done?

So, ive decided to enroll in University of Miami and sent in all the statements for every school I applied to. This included the statement to Carnegie Mellon saying that I won’t be attending.

I am seriously beginning to regret that decision. And unfortunately May 1 has passed. Now I have 2 questions…

Is it possible for me to change my mind and fix this all before I get too far into the month of May?

If I stick with Miami and decide to transfer later, will I be guaranteed admission as a transfer, due to my acceptance as a freshman applicant?

Don't know, each case is different but you can try.

No. Far from it, from the stats given, CMU is pretty strict on transfers, even for HSS I think only a handful make it in from the stats I saw a year or two ago.

If you've really changed your mind and want to go to CMU, then call CMU's admissions office IMMEDIATELY and explain the situation. Chances are they'll be forgiving. They admitted you, which means that they want you to attend. Better yield for them if you do, etc.

Make sure both colleges know exactly what you want to do, since it is an odd situation. Good luck!

Nope. If you really want to go to CMU, then I highly advise you do it immediately. Transfer admissions are extremely selective and unreliable at best, from what I've heard.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I've got quite the decision to make this weekend.

OH GOD...i might regret signing up for tulane. i don't knwo why. maybe we all go through this phase lol. I am with you kensir!

I think I'm going to stick with what I've decided on, for a lot reasons. Perhaps the finality of "May 1st" made me reconsider, but I think I'm moving in the right direction.
