Can my friend technically get in trouble for this?

I’m currently a student at UChicago. My friend was studying in a classroom and about an hour later some middle aged professor got mad at him for no reason for being in his classroom. My friend then stuck his two middle fingers at him then said ‘f–k you, old man’ to his face.

This professor doesn’t know his name and I don’t think there were any cameras in the room.

Wouldn’t the professor look for him the next class he sees him?

He’s an econ major and he was just studying in the Logan Arts Center I think. He just left and I don’t think this professor would track him down in every building out there. Plus, there weren’t any witnesses even if he did report my friend to the dean or whoever.

It’s rude. It might be violation of some rule if classrooms are not supposed to be used for that purpose. I doubt there will be any consequences. Your friend might want to find a new place to study,

This sounds made up. Not by the OP, but by the friend.

If you’re talking about the room I think you’re talking about (the discussion classes with nice views on the upper floors), those aren’t used as art rooms exclusively, there are lots of misc discussion classes (like hum or whatever) put in there. So just cause it’s in Logan doesn’t mean there’s no chance of him running into the prof again.

Your friend may wish to reflect on how he interacts with people, even people who are rude to him first. Not a good idea to start burning bridges at his young age.
