Can sbd give me a hand ? :(

Hey everyone, just wondering if ya'll could help me out here.

So, i took the ACT and got a 34, am an American studying abroad in China, taking part in this international college prep high school course, and have a 4.0 GPA. I also took part in a few volunteer activities, took part in the school magazine, newsletter and am the co-captain of our school's touch-football team (It's basically impossible to play tackle in China). When i received my thing saying that i was referred, my parents and my teachers were kinda shocked. Ok, i'll admit i was taken a bit back too.

So, what do i do now? do i add anything to my application? Or should i just wait and see? I mean, UNC isnt exactly on the top of my list but i would at least like to know WHY i was deferred. Anybody got any clue?

Only 18% of UNC is from out of state by constitutional mandate, so it is honestly just really freaking hard to get in from out of state. If you have something to add to your application, add it, but really the chips are just going to fall where they may.

Thanks partyhat, I heard that UNC was really protective of in-state students, but I didnt realize that it would be that hard to get in. I will see what i can do. Thanks again :)

Sorry you got deferred. OOS acceptances are really a crap shoot.

Where do you go to school in China? My son attends an international school in Shanghai right now.

@Helpfulmommy, I am taking a dual diploma course in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. Being deferred did suck, but I guess all i can do is just wait.
