people say SAT's look bad after 3 tries, i heard the main reason is because you don't improve by very much, well for me it is the exact opposite I started with 1800 something progressed to 2080 and i hope December SATS will be higher.
Is it true that if you take it 4 times they will just average all the scores and thats your "score" because a couple of my friends were quite adamant about this.

no they dont average the scores… just send to the colleges your highest score

It depends on the college. Some ask that you report all - you can debate whether or not you have to do that, or whether you will get caught … but that’s another thread. 2200 is right - for many schools, you can report only your highest score. But - some schools super score - so that means you might need to report more than one - to get the highest score for each section. I would strongly consider that you try the ACT instead of the SAT a fourth time. I don’t know of a school that won’t accept either - and you may find that it’s a better fit for you.

I have never heard of a school averaging multiple SAT scores together; that would be ludicrous. What they do typically do is look at your top score or compose a super score (sum of all your highest sections). Some schools also allow you to use score choice, where you only send the scores you want.

Improvement will never be looked upon negatively, so don’t worry too much.

Well if you think the reason you scored lower was because you didn’t have enough study time in the past, go ahead. Setting some time aside to study 2 weeks before the test really helps. However, if you honestly worked as hard as you could before getting the 2080 (which is already a great score), I wouldn’t recommend it.

I agree with KansasGirl. Also try taking the ACT.
