can anybody at least post the top 75 or so

Uh… I wonder who would type that up… no one. Why don’t you wait until more people have bought it! It only came out a few days ago.

Or better yet, buy it yourself. What is it? $15? $20?

I’ll be applying to GT, UIUC, UMich, Cornell, and UWisc…I hope I get into one of them!

US News?
They base their rankings off of grants. Total horsecrap.

could somebody post the full computer engineering rankings?

thanks!

Dear Friend rogracer
it is very kind of you to have responded
to the request.

“The U.S. News & World Report rankings measure up to 15 indicators of academic performance for each college and university. Quantitative data that assess a college’s performance in areas such as graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, financial resources, student selectivity, and alumni giving account for 75 percent of a college’s score. The other 25 percent is based on a peer assessment survey the magazine sends to top officials at each school asking them to rate the other colleges in their category. Each year, the ranking methodology is reassessed to stay current with developments in higher education. For example, in recent years, U.S. News has incorporated more data about the proportion of low-income students that a school enrolls into its ranking measurements just as most selective colleges have made efforts to recruit more disadvantaged students.”

This might be a silly question, but is it legal to post the full rankings? Do you not have to pay for them? If one person pays for them, can they just give them away for nothing to an undetermined number of people?

It seems like a slippery slope to copyright infringement at best. I’ve always wondered what the deal was with that on this site. Can somebody explain that to me?

It is all posted online.

As long as the poster attributes it properly, it would fall under “fair use,” in my opinion.

Could someone post the specific branch rankings as well. I’m specifically interested in the Mechanical and Nuclear undergrad rankings (I know they’re on the site but they only go to 10. There are rankings that go beyond 10 right?). And THANK YOU Rogracer for the rankings you have provided. I tip my hat to ya.

I know the “world’s best” is free, but what about the USNWR rankings? I thought they sold access to that. They could make it free, easy, if that’s what they wanted to do.

WHOOT!

Looky what I found:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/engineering-majors/769210-complete-usnews-2010-undergrad-engineering-rankings-phd-granting-schools.html

If I remember correctly, USNWR only ranks schools in Engineering if a minimum of 15% of students major in it. If a school has only say 13% Engineering majors then it is not in the Engineering rankings. I wonder how many otherwise good ‘Engineering schools’ are left out because they are below this threshold. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Northeastern only advertises 11% of undergrads in Engineering and they’re on the list

UT bumped ahead of CalTech in ChemE, very interesting
I really hope I get accepted for transfer now
