@kyang0309 well academics wise you are SLIGHTLY ABOVE average. You have nice ECs. i would say your chances are around 20-25% ESSAYS AND SUPPLEMENTARY QUESTIONS/ESSAYS ARE CRUCIAL REMEMBER, FOCUS ON IT = D

Thanks for the help!

Since you’re a junior, you still have some time. I would recommend taking the SAT again and taking an SAT II in Chem or Physics. You don’t have spectacular extracurriculars, but you do have volunteer experience. Really focus on that for the next year or so, and figure out how you can incorporate it in your college essays. You want to make sure you have a good story for why you volunteer! Of course, this isn’t the only route to take–it’s only a suggestion.

Right now, I’d say your chances are at around 25-30% for Cornell, 20-25% for Dartmouth, 15-20% for Brown and Penn, and 5-10% for other Ivies. Don’t worry; you’ve got a year to improve your chances! If you write a SPECTACULAR essay, that could actually dramatically increase your chances, so maybe start thinking about that now? Hope this helped!

My advice is to not take anymore SAT subject tests as you already have 3 solid scores. If you’ve only taken the SAT once and want to see if you can improve the 1520 a bit, you can try…but even that I don’t think is really necessary. What I would spend my time on is a strong activity that you can base your essay or “passion” around. Utilize this summer wisely and work on crafting your essays.

I just got accepted into a summer research program for high school students, and I am extremely excited for that. I am interested in pursuing biology or neuro (pre-med), so I am pumped for the lab experience. Hopefully, I’ll be able to demonstrate my passion for science through that, especially since my school does not have a big emphasis on academics.

The same as everyone else: Really low

I don’t really think you need to retake your test scores…they’re good. spend alot of time constructing good essays abd build solid relationships w teachers for good recs. I think you have a solid shot at cornell, dartmouth and maybe Penn. chance back please!

@kyang0309 No one can really but everyone can make a guess which is worth zero. Only an Ivy’s AO can give you an honest assessment.
