Can someone explain college supplements?

I recently started adding schools to my Common Application. When I added Brown, I only had a few essay topics. Then, I decided to google Brown's Supplement to the Common Application and found a PDF with quite a few more essay questions. How am I supposed to submit the Supplement to the Common Application? Is this standard procedure for most schools? For instance, Bard also has a supplemental essay, but the Common Application says it does not require a writing supplement. How are we supposed to submit these other essays?

I think not all schools have their supplements loaded. So a writing supplement for Bard will probably show up at some point. None of the schools I have selected have any supplements or essays showing at this point.

The common app this year notes that schools can tailor which questions you get based on some of your application responses, so that may be why you don’t see all the questions for Brown? (I’m not sure though.) When I applied to one school on last year’s common app the supplements were one all inclusive section per school.
