Hey guys, I'm kinda confused about Gallatin, or even if I should apply for it. I really wanna be in medicine but I have other interests as well. What if I wanted to be in pre-med and french, is that strictly Gallatin or could that just be CAS? Is it harder to get into Gallatin than CAS? Also, can anyone actually tell me how it's like to be in CAS and/or Gallatin?

(sorry for asking so many questions!!)

if you go into cas, it is possible to major in french but still be pre-med: the acceptance rate for med schools is the same for science and non-science majors. obviously, there are science requirements you would also have to fill to qualify as pre-med, but yeah

I’m not sure if you still need answers to your questions but I will be happy to answer them. I am currently a student at Gallatin right now and I absolutely love it. The professors are all amazing and filled with knowledge. They really care about you and they really take the time to get to know their students. I don’t know any one Gallatin professor that a student has disliked. They are all very dynamic and creative in their teaching styles. We don’t have tests. We mainly read a lot and write essays. Some people prefer this style while others prefer to have tests instead. Class is mainly discussion based. It really prepares you for Graduate School, if you plan on attending. The classes are small and intimate so you get to know everyone. The students are all friendly. You can simply say "Hi’’ and you will have a new friend in no time. As far as being Pre-Med, there are many Gallatin students that are Pre-Med as well, and they are doing perfectly fine. What’s wonderful about Gallatin is that the more classes you take, the more you will realize what your concentration will be. Mine changed approximately 5 times before I was satisfied with it. You can definitely do the Pre-Med track, incorporate French into your concentration or take French as a minor. Not every class you take at Gallatin has to pertain to your concentration. I take Spanish, just to learn it, but it is not a part of my concentration. Most of my friends who applied to CAS have tried to transfer internally into Gallatin when they realized how great the school is. As for how tough it is to get into Gallatin, I would say that you should pay closer attention to your essay. I think this is weighted a lot more in the process. CAS would probably be based more on numbers. I hope this helped!
