Can someone explain this for me?

It's about the ED policy at JHU.

"Early Decision applicants who are admitted to Johns Hopkins but who are not admitted to the BME major at that time will be allowed to apply to and consider offers of admission from other institutions. Students in this circumstance will be released from the obligation to matriculate at Johns Hopkins under the original conditions of the Early Decision Plan. Such candidates have until May 1 to reply to Johns Hopkins' offer of admission."

So is this policy only for students who applied for BME or students who applied and was accepted for other majors than BME?

Thanks in advance, CC!

The policy only applies to a student who applies for the BME major. (One applies for the BME major by listing it as one’s first choice major on the JHU supplement to the Common Application or Universal College Application.)

The BME major is the only major one must apply to when applying ED or RD to Hopkins. If the Admissions Committee determines during the ED review that we want to admit the student but the student is not offered admissions to the BME program, the binding ED contract will become null. If we are not offering an applicant their first choice major (BME) then we can not bind them to the ED contract.

Once again, THIS POLICY ONLY APPLIES TO BME APPLICANTS. The Early Decision process at Hopkins is a **binding **process. As well, do not try to be ***clever ***and apply for BME if though you have no interest in the program … just to try and game the system.

oh, I see. thanks so much, AdmissionsDaniel.
