Can someone explain to me the rec letter process?

I know that some schools require the letter to be officially sealed, but how does it work? For example, I got a rec from my math teacher (who is retiring), and he gave me the letter (signed), before he left. I still have to give him the evaluation form (common app doesn't come out until later...) So basically, where do I start and what do I do?

I can’t explain it.

I cannot do this.

big, I hope you have contact information for the teacher. I’m sure that he will be happy to sign and seal a copy of the recommendation and evaluation when you have the procedure as described by the schools to which you are applying. Frequently, recommendations are sent in an envelope that has been signed across the seal and the signature is expected to match the signature on the letter itself.

Yes, I have the teacher’s contact information. However, is the rec letter sent in a separate envelope as the rest of my app? Because the teacher evaluation portion of the common app is bound inside the application, so is a copy acceptable?

Yes, the rec letter is sent in another envelope. Give the teacher evaluation form to the teachers, have them fill it out and make copies for each school you’re applying to, and have them put the letters and evaluations in envelopes to be sent to each college. The teacher can send the envelopes on his own if he wants, or he may have you send them together with the rest of your application. It doesn’t matter. As long as everything gets sent to the colleges and you don’t see the recommendation.

My English teacher gave me ten copies of her recommendation letter, and she even let me review it before she printed them out for me. After they were all printed out and signed, I merely put them into envelopes and mailed them myself.

It’s not necessary that you follow the exact protocol, but the letters must be signed.

Ok. I think I get it now. So I need to give my teacher: Rec letters, Teacher evaluations, addressed envelopes. So then, my teacher puts everything in and sends them out in separate packages from my app.

^Some teachers will also ask for a grade transcript and a copy of your EC/awards and honors resume. I put the entire package in a neat, nice, cool-looking yellow translucent folder, but that’s just me. :)

Also, your envelopes should have a postage stamp adhered to it.

As for the address, I should just send it to the admission’s office and they should be able to sort it from there, right?

Yes. …
